Seattle Knitting Scene and TNNA

On that wonderful day to Seattle we made it to one of the many amazing knitting shops – So Much Yarn. And that’s news?? Tim was great as I wondered about the shop. He even made suggestions. As a knitting muggle … well that’s saying a lot. I was looking for a Lace Knitting weight and something that I couldn’t find in Portland. Low and behold… I did.

TNNA and other knitting news: As many of you know (or not) TNNA starts this weekend in Columbus, OH. I had hoped to go this year, but not able to with DAC. Next year. The Knitting Retreat Group will be meeting up for a drink to catch up. I’m sorry to be missing it.

We all had a lovely email from Chris de Longpre from Knitting at Noon Designs. She’s finished her DVD. Yea! She’s the first of our Group to publish her project. Much progress has been made by all as she chronicled for us:

"Myrna’s lovely shawl is in the new Debbie Macomber book;  Cat’s revolutionary sock book is soon the be out;  Cookie’s sock patterns are in all our local yarn stores;  Janel’s cruise is being talked up here and there; Margaret’s teaching here and there; Darlene has a lovely pattern on the Afghans for Afghans site."

AND … there’s much more going on…

  • Darlene of Hand Jive Knits and Afgans for Afghans will be at the show with her yarn line and several new sock patterns. If you’ve not tried it. You must. It’s lovely, just lovely.
  • Chrissy is busy knitting and has added some great new sock designs to her sight. She’ll be at the show absorbing and making contacts.
  • ShibuiKnits, a wonderful new yarn out of Portland, OR is being launched at TNNA this year. The line was developed by the owner of the shop I teach for, Darcy. If you are at the show make sure to stop by!
  • On this end,not attending, however working on several course outlines for fall teaching. Parts of the lesson’s will ultimately make it into one of the two books on my list. I’ve also managed to slowly get back to sketching and designing. Some great inspiration in Seattle.
  • Other great stuff coming from the rest of the crew. However, it’s all mum for the moment.

Sydney’s sweater is coming along. I have the back completely done and working on the two fronts for the cardigans. Yes, I knit them at the same time.

Well I think that’s about it. Great weekend. I’ll try to post at least once while in San Diego.
