A Pause in the Knitting

The knitting, needlework, blogging and even work will be taking a hiatus shortly due to surgery. February 15 to be exact. My apologies to those I have not been able to connect with in the last week. It’s been a bit hectic to say the least. Not to mention I’ve been on the road three out of four weeks this month. That’s hectic and over the top. Even for me.

The details. I mentioned in my last post that I may need it. As you can see, I do. They will be replacing the discs and performing a spinal fusion at C5-C6 and C6-C7. The bulging is a result of bone degeneration in the spine. My doctor will also be cleaning up the arthritis at C6 and C7. Who new? Certainly not me!

How am I? How did this happen? I’m good. I’m making sure I have as much in order as I can before the 15th while mentally staying aware of the changes coming for the recovery. It was not one specific thing. It is what it is. I have a great group of doctors and very comfortable and confident in them. I also have a wealth of specialist available to me at OHSU for recovery and/or in the event of an emergency. I have family and friends helping the first two weeks and others for weeks three and four (these aren’t as hard or so I’m told).

The upside? Any an all pain associated with my neck, knitting, spinning and needlework – I’m informed – will be no more. I don’t want to jinx myself, but what could better than that? …… Winning the lottery would be good. Unlikely, but possible.

What’s on the needles? T’s socks. I’m finally getting to them. Slow going, but going.
